About Christine Barber Bush

Peaceful Bodies was started as a solution for my ever expanding hobby of sewing and clothing design after my retirement from work as a graphic designer. Very quickly I had an abundance of garments, more than I needed. However, I simply could not stop the creativity! I discovered there are many women like myself looking for comfortable, quality, chic, and edgy clothing made with quality materials. And clothing that is not mass produced and often one-of-a-kind.

I focused on using linen and cotton fabrics since at the time I lived in Florida. I quickly had women stopping me and asking where I got my outfit (top, pants, jacket...). When I said I had made it, they wanted to know where I sold it and how they could purchase one. I had been used to selling jewelry in galleries and boutiques on a commission basis so got the idea to contact a friend who owned a clothing boutique on Indian Rocks Beach, FL. She loved my stuff and immediately added Peaceful Bodies to her inventory. To my delight, my garments were a smash hit. Now that I reside in a 4-season climate, I'm looking forward to working in wools, knits, fleece, etc. (I no longer sell clothing in Florida)

Over time I also started making and selling fabric collages that I applique to bags, aprons, and tea towels as well as selling them as patches for the individual to use, f. ex. on backpacks, jean jackets, etc. In addition, I started making and selling sculptural, bold jewelry that compliments my clothing.

Now it is soon 2021, my husband and I have moved to Muncie and I am searching for new outlets for my compulsive creativity. Being new to the area and not knowing anyone except family, I'm hoping that becoming a supporter of Muncie Arts & Cultural Council will be a perfect place to start.

Below you can see just a few of the garments I have made.
