Rachel Buckmaster is the Assistant Director of the David Owsley Museum of Art at Ball State University. Born and raised in Muncie, Buckmaster attended Ball State University, and after graduating with a degree in Political Science, she worked for over a decade in state and local government in Indianapolis. In a community relations role with the Mayor’s Office, she developed a keen interest in the ways that government and local organizations can collaborate with an energized community to create growth and foster civic engagement. After receiving a Master of Arts in Arts Administration and Policy from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Buckmaster spent the next five years working in that school's administration in Student Affairs, developing a deeper understanding of the valuable contributions the arts—and artists—can bring to a community. She returned to Muncie in June of 2016 to join the staff of the David Owsley Museum of Art, and was elected to the MACC Board of Directors in 2018.
